Overview

The WaSMSNet module integrates your POS with the wasms.net messaging platform, enabling you to send WhatsApp messages, SMS, and OTPs directly from your business system. It uses two core utilities: WaSMSUtil for message composition and sending, and ApiClientUtil for API communication.

WhatsApp

SMS

OTP

WhatsApp Messaging

Send WhatsApp messages to customers and contacts directly from the POS.

  • Send individual messages to customer phone numbers
  • Use pre-defined templates for consistent communication
  • Messages are sent via the wasms.net API (base URL: https://sys.wasms.net/)
  • Delivery status tracking

SMS Messaging

Fall back to SMS for customers who are not on WhatsApp.

  • Send SMS messages using the same API integration
  • Automatic channel selection based on configuration
  • Same template system as WhatsApp messages

OTP Sending

The WaSMSUtil::sendOTP() method handles one-time password delivery for verification flows.

  • Send OTPs via WhatsApp or SMS
  • Configurable expiry time (in seconds)
  • Template-based OTP messages with {{otp}} and {{expiry}} placeholders
  • Requires business_id (not raw API key) for proper business-level configuration
OTP templates use double braces: Your OTP is: {{otp}}. Expires in {{expiry}} minutes.

Template Messages

Pre-define message templates for common business communications.

  • Create templates with variable placeholders
  • Use templates for order confirmations, payment reminders, and status updates
  • Templates ensure consistent messaging across your team

Business Notifications

Automate notifications triggered by business events.

  • Send order confirmation messages when sales are completed
  • Payment receipt notifications
  • Repair status updates (when paired with the Repair Service module)
  • Custom event-driven notifications
API settings are stored in the freesms_settings JSON column of the Business model. Configure these in your business settings.

Getting Started

  1. Activate the WaSMSNet module in your subscription.
